Itinerary

Day 1
Embarkation in Amsterdam, where the ship stays overnight.

Day 2
Today you will visit Amsterdam during a *city tour including a canal cruise. In the evening our ship leaves its berth and heads towards Germany.

Day 3
After a relaxing river passage, our ship moors in Düsseldorf in the afternoon. From here, a coach excursion leads to the vibrant Rhine city of *Cologne, which is explored on a sightseeing tour. Re-embarkation in Cologne and continuation of the cruise.

Day 4
Right at the mouth of the Moselle River into the Rhine River Koblenz is located, *walking tour through the Old Town. Then you enjoy the river cruise on the most romantic part of the Middle Rhine and past the Lorelei rock, steeped in legend. In the afternoon our ship arrives in the charming winegrowing town of Rüdesheim, *shore leave including a trip on the mini train „Winzerexpress“ into the centre, a visit to Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Cabinet and a stroll through the famous Drosselgasse, lined with wine taverns. Continuation of the cruise in the evening.

Day 5
Arrival in Miltenberg in the afternoon, *walking tour through the “Pearl of the Main River” with the “Schnatterloch”, surrounded by stunning half-timbered houses. Then you will go by coach along the Main River to Wertheim, also *walking tour and reembarkation.

Day 6
*Sightseeing tour in Würzburg in the morning, which extends below Marienberg Fortress. The tour also includes a visit to the residence. In the afternoon coach excursion to the medieval town of *Rothenburg ob der Tauber, where you will be enchanted by the narrow alleys and squares with their romantic ambience. Return on board in Würzburg.

Day 7
The last port of call on the Main is Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. *City walking tour through the landmarked city that is a synthesis between Gothic style and Baroque and dominated by the imperial cathedral.

Day 8
Arrival in Nuremberg in the morning, *city tour. In the shadow of the impressing medieval castle there is the Old Town with the marketplace, Alfred Dürer‘s House and St. Mary‘s church. The afternoon is at free disposal. Continuation of the cruise in the evening.

Day 9
From Kelheim you take a ride on an *excursion boat through the Danube breakthrough to the beautifully situated baroque monastery Weltenburg. Continue by coach to MS Johann Strauss in Regensburg. In the afternoon *city walking tour through the former free imperial city Regensburg. In the evening the ship continues its river cruise.

Day 10
The morning is dedicated to the city of Passau, *walking tour through the charming Old Town and to the “Ortsspitz” at the junction of the rivers Ilz, Inn and Danube. Then river passage through the wonderful Danube loop near Schlögen. Technical stop in Linz in the evening. Continuation of the river cruise.

Day 11
In the morning, a visit to *Stift Melk is scheduled from Emmersdorf. In the afternoon, the ship passes through the famous Danube Valley Wachau, UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Krems you enjoy some free time before the ship starts for the last section of the cruise.

Day 12
A day at leisure to discover Vienna on your own or take an optional tour.

Day 13
Arrival in Budapest and *city tour around noon. The tour also includes a ride up to the Gellért Hill with a beautiful view on the city with its palaces, churches and bridges. The afternoon can be spent during some free time in Budapest. After lunch the guests have the possibility to join the optional excursion to **Gödöllö and see the castle and its chambers, where Empress Elisabeth once lived. In the evening the our ship leaves Budapest behind.

Day 14
After a technical stop in the border town of Mohács in the morning, the ship reaches Osijek on the Drava, in Croatia, in the afternoon. A coach excursion sets off from here to *Kopacki Rit nature park. The more than 17,000-hectare area of wetlands, ponds, backwaters and lakes boasts a wide variety of plants and animals. After the return, *sightseeing in Osijek, Croatia’s fourth-largest city, is on the programme. (In case of high- or low water the ship will stop in Vukovar instead of Osijek.) Continuation of the cruise. .

Day 15
*City tour in Novi Sad in the morning, afterwards by coach to Belgrade. In the afternoon, *city sightseeing is planned here, which not only includes the attractive Old Town with its architectural masterpieces, but also a visit to the massive Belgrade Fortress, where you will enjoy a wonderful view of the confluence of the Sava and the Danube. Continuation of the cruise in the late evening.

Day 16
Today, you will enjoy the ship’s passage through the gorge on the Danube in the more than 100 kilometre-long Djerdap section, where the Danube forms a gorge which created the largest river cliff landscape in Europe. Here, the river is narrowed down to 100 metres, is up to 70 metres deep and lined with cliffs that are over 300 metres high. In addition, historical monuments enrich the impressive fluvial topography. The most spectacular section is formed by the three kilometre-long “Iron Gate“ at the end of the gorge. An unforgettable experience!

Day 17
Arrival in the morning in the Bulgarian port Svistov, full-day excursion by coach to *Veliko Târnovo incl. lunch. It was once the capital of the second Bulgarian empire – a city just like in a picture book. Afterwards visit in the nearby open-air museum *Arbanassi with houses from the 16th and 17th century that were built as a fortress, five churches and two monasteries. Return on board in Russe.

Day 18
Arrival in the Romanian Danube port Harsova, coach excursion to *Constanta. The big harbour town at the Black Sea was founded by the Greeks and became an important harbour in Roman times. Nowadays the city is a popular destination for tourists. Return on board in Harsova.

Day 19
Sailing on the Sulina-arm to the estuary mouth into the Black Sea before noon. In Sfântu Gheorghe there is an optional *boat excursion to the unforgettable Danube Delta that stretches out on a 4.340 km² large area. It is a huge nature and bird paradise with a unique flora and fauna.

Day 20
Disembarkation after breakfast in Brail and transfer by road to Bucharest - your cruise ends here - take an extension and discover Romania.
