Itinerary

Day 1
Embarkation on our deluxe river ship in Lyon, departure in the evening.

Day 2
Enjoy the morning on board the ship. From Viviers there is a coach excursion to the truffle village of *Grignan, which spreads picturesquely over a hill. At the highest point there is a magnificent Renaissance castle, which you will also visit. Late in the evening, you will continue the river cruise.

Day 3
In the morning, we reach Arles. Sitting in a wide bend of the river Rhône, this city was once a Roman port, in the Middle Ages the most important Christian centre of southern France and later the inspiring residence of Vincent van Gogh. After a *city tour of Arles, a coach excursion to the *Camargue follows immediately. Enjoy your lunch in a typical „Manade“ - an estate where the white Camargue horses and black Camargue cattle are bred. Afterwards, take a look around Aigues Mortes with its completely preserved city wall. In the evening, return to the ship.

Day 4
Today‘s *full-day excursion will take you into the heart of Provence: the destination is the Plateau de Valensole with its huge lavender fields, followed by tours of the old town of Manosque and the typical Provençal villages of Apt and Riez, including a restaurant lunch. Back to the ship in Avignon.
Slavonski Brod has always been important as a border town. During a *sightseeing tour, you will get to know the historical centre with its pedestrian zone and the starshaped citadel, which was built in the 18th century as a defence against the Turks. The river cruise on the Sava is continued around lunchtime to Brcko, the only Bosnian port of call on this journey.

Day 5
While the ship still moors in Avignon during the whole day, you will find time for a coach excursion to *Aix-en-Provence, the cultural and economic heart of the region. A Mediterranean flair lies above the elegant city, its palaces and churches. You will also visit the bustling market. For lunch you will be back on board. Surrounded by ramparts, Avignon – the city of the popes – with its majestic architecture has been a metropolis on the Rhône since the Middle Ages and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. The afternoon tour of *Avignon also includes a visit to the magnificent Pope‘s Palace. During the night the ship will change to Châteauneuf-du-Rhône.

Day 6
Starting from Châteauneuf-du-Rhône, you will take a coach excursion to the picturesque fortified village of *Gordes. Not far away is the simple *Abbey of Sénanque, which rises in the midst of rolling lavender fields and is a popular photo motif. After the reembarkation the afternoon is spent relaxing on board. During the night the ship moors in Tournon.

Day 7
In the morning, wee reach Vienne, one of the oldest cities in the Rhône-Alpes region. After a *city tour by mini-train the ship changes to Lyon. In the afternoon you will experience a *city tour and stroll around the gourmet market „Paul Bocuse“ - including tasting of some specialities.

Day 8
In the morning, disembarkation in Lyon.
