Embarkation on MS Johann Strauss in Vienna-Nussdorf around noon. In the early afternoon the ship leaves the Austrian capital.
Technical stop in the early morning in Linz. Then river passage through the wonderful Danube loop near Schlögen. The afternoon is dedicated to the city of Passau, *walking tour through the charming Old Town and to the “Ortsspitz” at the junction of the rivers Ilz, Inn and Danube. The cruise will be continued in the evening.
Arrival in Regensburg in the morning, *city walking tour through the former free imperial city Regensburg. Continuation of the cruise to Kelheim. Here starts a coach excursion to the beautifully situated baroque monastery *Weltenburg. Then take a ride on an *excursion boat through the Danube breakthrough back to Kelheim. In the evening, the ship swings into the Main-Danube canal.
Arrival in Roth in the morning, *coach excursion to the nearby city of Nuremberg. In the shadow of the impressing medieval castle there is the Old Town with the marketplace, Alfred Dürer‘s House and St. Mary‘s church. After the reembarkation in Nuremberg, the afternoon is at free disposal. In the evening the cruise will be continued.
The first port of call on the Main is Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. *Walking tour through the landmarked city that is a synthesis between Gothic style and Baroque and is dominated by the imperial cathedral. In the afternoon the ship casts off.
*Sightseeing tour in Würzburg in the morning, which also includes a visit to the residence. In the afternoon coach excursion to the medieval town of *Rothenburg ob der Tauber, where you will be enchanted by the narrow alleys and squares with their romantic ambience. Return on board in Würzburg.
Arrival in the cosy Main townlet Wertheim in the morning. After a *city walking tour there will be a coach transfer along the Main River to Miltenberg. During a *walking tour you explore the “Pearl of the Main River” with the “Schnatterloch”, surrounded by stunning half-timbered houses. Around noon return on board in Miltenberg.
Relaxing day on board. Enjoy the passage on the most romantic part of the Middle Rhine and past the Lorelei rock, steeped in legend. Turning manoeuvre at the estuary mouth of the Moselle at the “German Corner” in Koblenz. Once again the ship cruises through the beautiful Rhine Valley and moors in Mainz.
In the morning arrival in Mannheim. Coach excursion to one of the most beautiful cities in Germany – *Heidelberg. The sightseeing tour also includes a visit to the castle. After that return aboard in Mannheim. The next port of call is Speyer, one of the oldest German cities. A *walking tour takes you through the Old Town to the impressive Cathedral of Speyer, St. Marien, the largest preserved Romanesque church in the world and also an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981.
Arrival in Strasbourg. Full day excursion by coach through the *Alsace region: First you enjoy a city tour in Strasbourg, the charming Alsatian capital. Then by coach through the Alsace wine region to Colmar. The city enchants with its half-timbered houses and the „Litte Venice“ district. The excursion includes lunch in a restaurant and the reembarkation at the German harbour of Breisach.
