Embarkation in Basel, the ship leaves Basel in the evening and sails downstream on the Rhine.
Arrival in Breisach and full day excursion by coach through the *Alsace region: First you enjoy a city tour in Colmar. The city enchants with its half-timbered houses, the „Litte Venice“ district and its churches. Then by coach through the Alsace wine region to Strasbourg to visit the charming Alsatian capital. The excursion includes lunch in a restaurant and the re-embarkation in Strasbourg.
The next stopover port is the emperors’ city of Speyer, one of the oldest German cities. A *walking tour takes you through the Old Town to Speyer Cathedral. This largest preserved Romanesque church building in the world is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981. Continuation of the river cruise from Speyer to Mannheim. There will start an excursion to one of the most beautiful cities in Germany, *Heidelberg. Situated idyllically by the Neckar, the Old Town is the epitome of German Romanticism. After the city walking tour return to Mannheim.
Relaxing day on board. Enjoy the passage on the most romantic part of the Middle Rhine and past the Lorelei rock, steeped in legend. Turning manoeuvre at the estuary of the Moselle at the “German Corner” in Koblenz. Once again the ship cruises through the beautiful Rhine Valley and later the ship sails into the Main River.
Arrival in Miltenberg, *walking tour through the “Pearl of the Main River” with the “Schnatterloch”, surrounded by stunning half-timbered houses. Then you will go by ship along the Main River to the cosy Main townlet Wertheim, also *walking tour and re-embarkation.
In the morning a *city tour through Würzburg awaits you, including a visit to the Residenz. In the afternoon you will discover the *rococo garden of Veitshöchheim Castle near Würzburg including a visit to a nearby winery. Return on board in Kitzingen.
The last port of call on the Main is Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. *Walking tour through the landmarked city that is a synthesis between Gothic style and Baroque and dominated by the imperial cathedral.
Arrival in Nuremberg in the morning, *city tour. In the shadow of the impressing medieval castle there is the Old Town with the marketplace, Alfred Dürer‘s House and St. Mary‘s church. The afternoon is at free disposal. Continuation of the cruise in the evening.
From Kelheim you take a ride on an *excursion boat through the Danube breakthrough to the beautifully situated baroque monastery Weltenburg. Continue by coach to the ship in Regensburg. In the afternoon *walking tour through the former free imperial city Regensburg. In the evening the ship continues its river cruise.
The morning is dedicated to the city of Passau, *walking tour through the charming Old Town and to the “Ortsspitz” at the junction of the rivers Ilz, Inn and Danube. Then river passage through the wonderful Danube loop near Schlögen. Technical stop in Linz in the evening. Continuation of the river cruise.
After breakfast disembarkation in Vienna-Nussdorf.
